Taylor Walker lifts lid on expletive-laden spray to Adelaide teammates during loss to Fremantle

Adelaide veteran Taylor Walker has lifted the lid on his expletive-laden spray at the half-time break of the Crows’ heartbreaking loss to Fremantle on Good Friday.

The Crows were trailing by 25 points when Walker gathered his teammates on the field for a passionate chat.

Despite not having an official leadership title, former skipper Walker took it upon himself to deliver the pep talk that also included a little punch on teammate and vice-captain Alex Neal-Bullen.

It may have had the desired effect with the Crows flicking the switch after half-time to kick seven consecutive goals and set up a thrilling finish.

In a topsy-turvy final quarter, it was the Dockers who emerged two-point victors after kicking the final two goals of the match.

Speaking to 7NEWS about the half-time spray, Walker said his wife wasn’t too happy with the amount of f-words he dropped.

“It’s not something you want to do too often and sometimes my passion does come out a little bit but it comes from a great place and I thought the boys responded really well after half-time so maybe it worked, maybe it didn’t,” he told 7NEWS Adelaide on Tuesday.

“After getting home, my wife said to me that I put a few (f-words) in there and my kids I think might have picked up on a few of them as well, but yeah it was … right time, right place.”

He also said the little jab on Neal-Bullen came from a good place.

“I didn’t mean to hit him too hard but yeah he was probably the only one that could hang his hat on playing his role throughout the first half,” he said.

“Yeah I probably made a point of what Nibbler was doing and we all should probably take a leaf out of his book.”

The Crows will now turn their attention to Carlton in a Thursday night blockbuster to open Gather Round.

Veteran Rory Laird has been cleared to return from a calf injury and Isaac Cumming will be available, but key forward Darcy Fogarty will miss again as he struggles with a back issue.

“Lairdy will be available for selection, as will Isaac Cumming who was a late withdrawal last week with sickness,” Crows high performance boss Ian McKeown said.

“A more accurate timeline for Fog’s return will be determined as he progresses through rehab this week,” he said.

Luke Pedlar will also miss after he was concussed in the loss to Fremantle.
